The company saw its business boost 47.61 percent in the first eight months, to 62 million lei, from 42 million lei in the similar period of 2008.
As many as 1.36 million passengers were counted by the airport in the first eight months, a 16 percent increase versus the 1.17 million people in the first eight months of 2008. Most of the passengers traveled with Blue Air, Wizz Air, Germanwings, My Air and SkyEurope.
The representatives of the Baneasa airport told NewsIn in April they estimate a turnover of 85 million lei this year, 25 percent up from 2008, after it recorded 21 million lei business in the first quarter.
Last year the airport catered to 1.76 million passengers and this year it expects the figures to increase by 20 percent, to 2.1 million.
The officials also explained that more and more clients, including businessmen, use low cost flights in a bid to slash costs.
